UKCF announces team for EuroCup 2013

The United Kingdom Carrom Federation (UKCF) has announced   it's team for the upcoming Carrom EuroCup 2013 tournament to be held in June.   UKCF held it's 5th and final ranking tournament for 2012/13 on Sunday 28th April 2013. Based on the results and the accumulated scores of the players, the  team has been chosen. Karnal Abdin, Nazrul Islam, Ala Miah and Murshad Khan will represent UK in the EuroCup to be held in Poland this year.

Mayor Congratulates UK Carrom Federation

Another exciting year to end the final league and  prize money competition. Last  Sunday, 28/4/13 UK Carrom Federation held their  5th and last final league of  2012 to 2013. Astonishingly the current Euro  Champion Karnal Abdin has again  came first in the competition and Sunahor Ali came second and President  Nazrul  Islam took the third prize on the day.

To  appreciate the work of UK Carrom Federation  our special guest The Mayor of  Tower Hamlets, Lutfur Rahman and his colleague  Councillor Aminur Khan attended  the final day. The final ranking tournament was  held at the Burdett Community  Centre in East London. Mayor Lutfur Rahman and  Councillor Aminur Khan was quite  excited to witness such an enthusiastic group  of players. He was very pleased  with the federation for organizing such events  and was quite vocal in his  support for the sport of Carrom. He said, “This is great achievement for the UK  Carrom Federation to engage the local community in participating this wonderful  game of Carrom that I too once played in my early days. I hope all players who  are going in the next Euro Cup 2013 in Poland will  bring glory to the borough 
and to this federation.”

UK Carrom  Federation invites all carrom players to participate in the next  carrom league  & competition on Sunday  28th April 2013 starting 2:00pm.

Please  make sure you arrive on time and confirm your  attendance. A total of 7 rounds  will be played and final score accumulated will  go towards the league ranking. 
The competition final will be between 1st and  2nd and 3rd place will be awarded from the 3rd position of the  league..

Results of 4th Carrom League and Competition

Winner of 4th League Competition

Another victory for Karnal Abdin in the fourth league competion held on 31/3/2013. Ish Gupta came second and Ala Miah taking the third position. Winner received their reward of £100,£50 and £25 each.

Result of 3rd League and competition

24th February 2013, Burdett Community Centre

Champion Karnal Abdin won £125 the 1st prize on the left awarded by Shaheen Miah the Sponsorer on the right.

The UK Carrom Federation conducted their third league tournament   under the guidance of International Carrom Federation on the 24th of February  2013. This invitation attracted 20 top players from around the country. There  were also new players enrolled in the tournament, Andrew D’Souza, Brook Saunders  & Willy Thomas were among the new players and they all played exceptionally well.

2nd Prize, £50 to Nazrul Islam

3rd Prize, £25 to Shaheen Miah

The tournament was in two fold, a  league ranking  consisting of 7 round and at the same time players were also  entered in the  prize money competition simultaneously.  After the seventh round  the third prize  was awarded to the 3rd in  the league and the 1st
and 2nd  played each other  for another round with unlimited board and time. The first
prize money was  sponsored by business man Shaheen Miah who also won the 3rd
place.  The  final was played by the same two last finalist in the 2nd  league  tournament by Karnal Abdin and Nazrul Islam. The game was won by  straight four  board by Karnal Abdin.

2nd UKCF Carrom League 2012-2013 Winners

Another wonderful victory by the 7 time Euro Champion Karnal Abdin won the 2nd league prize money ranking tornament on Sunday 27th January 2013. The final was played by Karnal Abdin against Nazrul Islam, the president of UK Carrom Federation. A full game was played and Karnal won by 25 to 21. The third place was mutually decided as the game for 3rd and 4th position did not take place instead Ala Miah was awarded as third. Prize money of £150 to Karnal Abdin, £75 to Nazrul Islam and a split of £25 each to Ala Miah and Sunahor Ali was awarded.

Competition is on the rule of ICF and ECF Swiss Round Robin (SRR).

UK Carrom Federation proudly welcome all carrom members to participate in the first ranking league tournament of 2012-2013. the tournament will be held on 18th November 2012 at the Janomat Office, 20B, Spelman Street, London E1 5LQ. The game will start 2:30 pm, so please make sure you attend by 2pm the latest to avoid any dissapointment.

Forthcoming Tournaments
The Carrom Federation of Sri Lanka is pleased to extend an invitation to all Carrom Federations affiliated ICF to depute carrom teams to participate in the 6th World Carrom Championship to be held from 31st October to 4th November 2012 in Sri Lanka. This will be played at Galadari Hotel.

Each Federation may depute 4 men players, 4 women players and 1 official from each country for participating in this Championship. .  Sri Lanka Carrom Federation will provide free hospitality i.e. free boarding, lodging and local transport from 12 noon on 30th October to 12 noon on 5th November 2012.
